About us |
areté is focused on providing its clients with custom landscape solutions which combine distinctiveness, elegance and practicality.
Our lead designer Alexandra Hernández-Nørgaard studied Design at the prestigious Instituto de Diseño Neumann in Venezuela, and Landscape Architecture in Mexico, with coursework at the Universidad Iberoamericana, the Univerisad Anáhuac and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Specializing in the architectural scale, her work creates a unique space for her residential and corporate clients which complements existing structures, while maximizing the potential of the surrounding landscape. Hernández-Nørgaard is particularly well versed in designing a landscape that will thrive in its environment. Planning for the volatility of Texas weather and rain levels, her vegetation selections are the result of in-depth study, and result in the trees, shrubs, grasses, flowers and other plants that will thrive with a minimum amount of upkeep. Through careful design and vegetation selection, the long-term cost of the landscape is optimized, providing the client with a complement to their property while creating for them, a singular environment to call their own. |
What does areté mean? |
From the Ancient Greek: ἀρετή, in its basic sense, means excellence of any kind. In its earliest appearance in Greek, this notion of excellence was ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential.
Sometimes translated as "virtue," the word actually means something closer to "being the best you can be," or "reaching your highest human potential." Source: Wikipedia |
